University of Waterloo Analytics Group for Games and Sports (UWAGGS)
Last active term
Sports and games generate massive amounts of data, most of which is still waiting to be understood. UWAGGS is a group of University of Waterloo students and community looking to explore that! Whether you live and breathe sports or you're just excited by what real-world data science can uncover, you'll find your people here. We're a place to build real skills, work on meaningful projects, and connect with others who take this stuff seriously, regardless of where you're starting from.
Founded in 2023, UWAGGS exists to bridge the gap between classroom theory and applied data science in the sports industry, e-sports, and beyond. Whether you're a seasoned coder or just getting started, we can provide the resources, collaboration, and exposure to help you grow.
What we offer:
Bi-weekly sessions featuring presentations on real-world applications across different sports domains
Collaboration with other members through projects and organized competitions
Workshops & tutorials designed to broaden your data science toolkit in a sports context
Co-op opportunities in the sports analytics industry, shared directly with our members
And much more!
Projects in our group span the full spectrum of sports. From athlete performance and player tracking to fantasy sports, prediction markets, game theory and more, if there's a corner of sports that draws your curiosity, there's probably a place for it here.
