At Waterloo, Black athletes feel as if the only space they feel comfortable in is either on the hardwood floor or the football/soccer field. So basically Black Athletes are only comfortable in their area of specialty, which is "sports".

This is why we have created BLAC. BLAC will be a club that will allow Black Athletes to do more than just throw a football, run the track, or dribble a ball. BLAC will be a club that allows Black athletes to get comfortable by doing the uncomfortable.

The Modern Dance Exploration Club is a dance community which provides exploratory dance workshops centered around the ideas of the modern dance movement of the late 19th to mid 20th century. Informational workshops will be a non-dance environment to learn more about the life and career of a prominent figure from the modern dance movement (including but not limited to Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham Paul Taylor, Lester Horton, etc.). Complimentary dance workshops are opportunities to experience the main movement qualities and philosophies of the chosen prominent figure. Learning specific movement techniques created by the person on which the workshop focuses may be included. However, the bulk of the workshop's is spent in an "free dance" time where participants improvise or create choreography with a group the general movement quality and philosophy learned about in their dancing. MusicX is musical arts organization that aims to bridge art and technology together. We hope to highlight this intersection and create a conversation surrounding interdisciplinary creativity.

The tech-arts divide is real, damaging, and can be acknowledged and addressed with the establishment and University recognition of MusicX. There is an expressed need for more avenues for engineers to express their creativity and for arts majors to have a say in the heavily technology-based discourse dominating Waterloo's campus.

Many artists could benefit from using technology as subject matter or the means of conveying their artistic message. With the aforementioned goal of providing space, resources and community for ‘techies’ to intermingle with ‘fuzzies’, MusicX aims also to provide tasters to promote the interdisciplinary work that is happening all across campus.

Project: Trashion is an upcoming exhibition led by students to approach and present sustainability issues in the fashion industry, in addition to the general waste we produce, through art, media and design. The exhibition is comprised of two segments, a fashion exhibition and a tradeshow. The fashion exhibition to showcase works of art that are made with the help of passionate and creative students. The tradeshow segment allows the engagement between leading advocators for sustainability in their respective rights industry to bring the public closer to their local activists and provide them with education, information and options on how an individual can contribute themselves to make a global impact with one small action at a time.

We strive to create a global impact by educating, engaging and creating a culture of sustainability, starting with our community. Our greatest challenges not only lies in creating a zero-waste, energy efficient and sustainable event, but to create a collaborative cooperation between established advocators to cultivate a sustainable culture in the community.
